Printmaking

All the works below were done a number of years ago. Etching a wonderful medium where process is more important than product. It also lends itself very well to darker themes such as Goya's etchings about the Spanish civil war. A very tactile, old worldly medium. I was interested in man's relation to nature, specifically animals, as well as how he saw himself in the world. I explored themes on superstition, fairy tales and trophy hunting, looking more at the darker side of human nature, involving ego and greed. I also looked at Jungian symbology, Perrault's fairy tales, the subconscious and our own ambiguous nature (Jekyll & Hyde).
